Tuken's Orchard & Winery is a family-run orchard, farm market and winery on Dayton Eaton Pike in West Alexandria, about 20 minutes from Dayton. In the fall it offers u-pick apples, a u-pick pumpkin patch and small attractions for kids.
When is it open?
Every day, Monday through Saturday 10 AM to 6 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 5 PM. It is also open holidays from 10 AM to 6 PM, and apple picking runs through November 30.
How much do u-pick apples cost?
U-pick apples are $2.49 a pound. Varieties on the list this season include Braeburn, Ida Red, Sun Fuji, Cameo and Pink Lady.
What will the kids enjoy?
There is a petting zoo, where a $5 donation per family is appreciated and food cups are sold inside the store, plus a kiddie corn maze open during store hours and a u-pick pumpkin patch open daily. A giant pumpkin scale sits out front of the market.
